We service a 200 mile radius around Memphis, Tennessee on a daily basis. West Memphis Steel has been solely owned by its President and Chief Executive Officer, Byron P. Besser, since 1988.

Mr. Besser literally grew up in the steel service business. He came to West Memphis Steel out of Memphis State University (now University of Memphis) as the nephew of the co-owner, Louis Barg. He worked as a salesman for several years and eventually purchased West Memphis Steel (WMS) from Louis Barg and Mr. Barg’s partner, Billy Johnson over a period of time ending in 1988.

Through sound business practices and re-investing in his company, Mr. Besser has realized his dream of owning and operating a financially stable company.
